Massage Therapy
What does a Massage Therapist do?
Massage Therapists use a variety of hands-on techniques to assess and treat the soft tissues of the body. Massage Therapy helps to improve blood and lymph circulation as well as decrease pain and inflammation. Relaxation, stress reduction and increased range of motion are all wonderful effects of Massage Therapy. Our therapists can provide deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, relaxation massage and prenatal massage.
How long is a Massage Therapy treatment?
We offer a variety of treatment times: 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes. Speaking with a Registered Massage Therapist will help determine the best treatment length for you.
Will a massage hurt?
There may be some discomfort due to injury of a muscle or inflammation. Some people may experience soreness up to 48 hours after treatment, but often feel a great decrease of pain and stiffness once the soreness has subsided.
Do you have to be in pain to receive a massage?
No. Massage Therapy is a great tool to help reduce stress and to help you relax.
Can I receive a massage if I’m pregnant?
Absolutely! Massage can help relax and reduce pain in the low back and neck; which are often sore during the later months of a pregnancy.
Is massage covered by OHIP?
No, but if you have extended health care coverage you may be reimbursed.
Do I need a doctor’s referral?
You do not need a referral to receive Massage Therapy; however, some insurance companies may require a note from your physician or Chiropractor to explain why Massage Therapy has been recommended.
